Emergency Preparedness

What is CERT?

“The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards

that may impact their area and trains them

in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light

search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.”

Lake Creek Forest (LCF) CERT

The LCF CERT was trained and established in the Spring 2010. LCF CERT members aim to offer “initial response” assistance, as outlined in the CERT mission statement above, to the LCF community in the period before professional first responders (Fire Dept., EMS, Police) can arrive on the scene, any of which may be delayed for some time following a disaster event such as a tornado or hurricane.

The LCF CERT will coordinate with other CERT’s in the East 1488 area & beyond, as needed.
